Bibliographic Transition

Before publication in the RDA-EN code, chapters 23 to 26 of section 8 (Relations between Works and between Expressions) are subject to a survey among professionals. The survey is still open for a few days, until 15 September.
The Training group is in charge of rewriting the pages of the website to adapt them to different audiences (beginners / advanced / experts). The pages dedicated to the RDA-FR code as well as those presenting the standardisation groups that write this code are now available. To be discovered, especially to prepare well for the competitions!
The 6th "Metadata in Libraries" Day will take place on 3 December 2021 (and not on 7 December as initially announced) at the BnF. It will deal with the Expression entity in the IFLA LRM model and the RDA-FR code.

    National licenses

    The latest corpora that are now reported in Sudoc and in the BAse de COnnaissance Nationale BACON are:
    - the 18 medical journals of the John Libbey Eurotext corpus, available in open access since 2020 thanks to the Plan de soutien à l'édition française (J.Libbey is indeed a French publisher!);
    - the digitised collections of the National Library of Florence (XV-XVIIth centuries);
    - the 312 ebooks in Iberian studies of the "Torrossa - Edicion Espanola Online" collection: this is the new national licence acquired byAbes, thanks to funding from the GIS CollEx-Persée (the choice of titles was made by the "CollEx Iberian studies" team of the SCD of the University Toulouse Jean Jaurès).

    APIs listed on api.gouv.fr

      ORCID WEBSITE : the ORCID France consortium opens its website, to make the characteristics of the ORCID identifier known to its users (researchers, research support services, IST professionals, computer scientists). The functioning of the API is detailed with use cases.
      UNIMARC MANUAL AUTHORITIES: the page on the Bibliographic Transition website presenting this format has been redesigned: the single PDF file has been split into as many PDFs as there are zones, making it easier to navigate. When no file is available, it is because the zone is exceptionally not yet documented or translated into French.

      SURVEY ON TRAINING NEEDS: the survey was completed at the beginning of July.Abes would like to thank the 36 correspondents Calames who participated. The analysis of the responses will help improve the training system offered to network members.

      STANDARDIZATION: The EGAD group is calling for comments on RiC-CM 0.2, the draft standard for the conceptual model "Recors in Context", which is open until 29 October 2021.

          RENEWAL OF THE CONVENTIONAL RELATIONSHIP: the project to renew the conventional relationship betweenAbes and its networks in terms of reporting has been validated by the Agency's Board of Directors and will come into force on 1 January 2022. A first choice is asked to the institutions Sudoc : subscribe or not to the option "visibility of collections in Worldcat". The Directorates and the Relationship Officers atAbes have been informed.

          SUDOC 21, REPORT OF THE END OF THE PROJECT: during the Journées Abes 2018, the Agency announced the launch of the "Sudoc 21" project, which consisted in considering the future of Sudoc and the redesign of its Information System. Now that the study has been completed, a full picture is available in a series of blog posts on Punktokomo and a detailed report.

          UNIMARC 2022 NEWS : the implementations that will be carried out in January 2022, to follow the evolutions of the UNIMARC bibliographic format, were communicated to the BMS providers at the beginning of June. They are set out in a summary document. The impact on cataloguing instructions and the precise timetable for this work will be communicated to the coordinators in September. A similar document for MARC 21 implementations will be available soon.
          RESULTS OF THE "LEND FROM MY HOME" OPERATION: 1235 documents were returned to their original library between February and July 2021, thanks to this system (coordinated by the ADBU at the initiative of the SCD of the Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès) which made it possible to make available again documents that had previously been locked up in the homes of users far from their BU. Congratulations to the staff who contributed to this project, especially those of the ILL services.

          YOUR OPINION ON THE FUTURE RDA-EN CODE : before its official publication, section 8 of the RDA-EN code (chapters 23 to 26) is submitted to the professionals for review until 15 September 2021.
          A WEBSITE FOR CR 01: the network centre Sudoc-PS Alsace now has a website. A section is dedicated to the shared conservation of periodicals, and many resources, in the form of "practical sheets", are available for libraries that are not deployed.
          AN ENRICHED WEBSITE FOR THE CR 63: the network centre Sudoc-PS Nouvelle Aquitaine - Académie de Poitiers already had a website, but its content has just been enriched: map of the network's libraries, news section and description of the CR's activities.

          DIGITALISATION OF DOCTORATE THESIS: the group of student curators, who were entrusted with the feasibility study of the project, presented 3 scenarios to the Steering Committee and, on the recommendation of the latter, further developed 1 of them, which was unveiled last June. The members of the Steering Committee (Abes, University of Lille and CollEx-Persée) must now decide on the next steps to be taken.

          NEW INSTITUTIONS JOIN THE NETWORK: we welcome the entry into the network of the École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique and the École Nationale Supérieure de la Statistique et de l'Analyse de l'Information. Each of these institutions has its own Correspondents Step and Star, who will be trained byAbes during the autumn.
