The AbesTour 2023

Abes continues to meet with member libraries and professional users. After a visit to the BU d'Angers in February, the Agency will be meeting colleagues in Toulouse (SCD of the Université Toulouse Capitole and SICD of the Université de Toulouse) and Lyon (SCD of the Université Claude Bernard) in April. Later in the year, the SCDs of the universities of Nantes and Grenoble-Alpes will be our next stop.

Electronic resources training

Recordings of the 4 sessions of the "Signalement et valorisation des ressources électroniques (hors travaux universitaires)" training course are now online. During this training, the working environment for catalogers was enhanced: the "Cataloguing digital monographs" sheet in the Methodological Guide was enriched, new cataloguing scripts are available and the "Processing electronic resources" memo (GM "Self-training" tab) was updated.

Bibliographic transition

An IFLA-LRM-compliant UNIMARC dataset is available for DBMS providers and library administrators to test the import of these entity records into their systems.
The first block of the RDA-FR ontology has been published. This ontology will enable national bibliographic agencies and BMS publishers to create and distribute their structured data, thanks to semantic web technologies.
Chapter 16 of RDA-FR, dealing with Place entity identification attributes, is subject to Afnor inquiry before publication.

National licenses

Thanks to funding from the GIS CollEx-Persée, access to the Classiques Garnier historical dictionaries and grammars acquired in 2012-2013 has been extended until the end of June 2027. It should be noted that these collections are not intended to be integrated into the ISTEX platform, with access via the publisher's own platform being the only option.

    Spotlight on

A quality project on the "Mémoires de l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris" collection

The Sciences Po Paris library has expanded and enriched the description of its unicas, in particular its collection of dissertations from the Institut d'études politiques (over 6,000 records). The enrichment includes the addition of access points for academic supervisors and the organization of defense (with the relevant function codes), the addition of Dewey indices and genre-forme indexing, and lastly the standardization of records (addition of zone 183, transformation of zone B210 into B214).
In preparation for this project, data was extracted from the BMS, aligned with IdRef (for authority data) and analyzed with OpenRefine. Details of the methodology can be obtained from the establishment's Sudoc coordinator, Clément Siberchicot.
