Arabesques n°101: Libraries in times of pandemic

On 17 March 2020, France was under total lockdown. How did libraries react to this unprecedented situation? Based on a dozen testimonies, the Arabesques dossier reveals how they managed to maintain the link with users, access to collections and a service offer. A big thank you to all the contributors of this issue, memorable from all points of view.

Publication of the IGESR report
"The place of BUs in open science".

Among its recommendations, the report recommends"EntrustAbes with the task of encouraging the development and coordinating the implementation of a national plan for the development of identifiers, including the choice of a repository for each entity (publications, data, researchers, structures) and the alignment of other repositories with those selected. "
Abes has taken note of this recommendation, which takes into account its long-standing efforts and those of its networks in the area of identifiers and repositories. The definition of a national plan has been initiated by MESRI. Abes is already involved.

Bibliographic Transition

The professional day on the dissemination of BnF data will take place remotely on 28 May 2021. Several presentations are linked to the issues of the Bibliographic Transition, including the one on the generation of records for works.

National licenses

The licencesnationales.fr website is getting a makeover. The new version adopts a more ergonomic navigation and offers enriched content, including detailed presentation pages for each corpus, search filters, and information dedicated to teachers and researchers. Thanks to the 14 colleagues from the networks who took part in the UX Design tests to confirm or deny the graphic and editorial choices.

CASUHAL 2021 DAYS: from 7 to 11 June, the CasuHAL 2021 Days will be held online. TheAbes will lead 3 workshops: on the collaboration between IdRef and HAL, on the ORCID France community and on PaprikHAL. Registrations are open.
CAIRN, DATA PRODUCER: after their training in the tool, the Cairn teams begin to produce authority data in IdRef (authors of monographs and articles), under the supervision of their Authority Correspondent.

INTEGRATION OF IDREF INTO TOULOUSE CAPITOLE'S IS: Idref's data are now integrated into Toulouse Capitole Publications' institutional archive. IdRef is part of the archive's deposit workflow.

2021 INVOICES : Calames 2021 invoices have been issued and deposited on the Chorus platform for those institutions that have requested them. The Relations Officers withAbes have been informed.

VALIDATED WORK AREAS OF THE CALAMES WG : the Correspondents Calames received an email detailing the work areas of the WG for 2021: redesign of documentation, analysis of the relationship between archives and documentation services in RSE institutions and IT developments for public and professional interfaces.

CALAMES CORRESPONDENT : the function sheet for the correspondent Calames has been updated. It highlights the central nature of the data, the importance of quality control and the functional and cross-functional management dimension assigned to the correspondent.
CONSIGNS FOR STATISTICS: the "RCR Calames" field of each component is necessary for the calculation of activity statistics and for the location of the component in the public catalogue. A project to check and upgrade this field is proposed to the Correspondents Calames.

SIGNALLING HERITAGE COLLECTIONS IN THE CCFr: the Catalogue Collectif de France (CCFr) is putting a new educational video online to learn how to promote the heritage collections of an institution.

SGBm: Sorbonne University, the result of the merger between the former Pierre and Marie Curie and Paris Sorbonne universities, both signatories of the SGBm framework agreement, has definitively changed its library management system on 28 March 2021.
STUDY DAY FOR CATALOGUE CORRESPONDENTS: the day will focus on tools for quality control of bibliographic data. Abes wishes to present the range of tools available and Correspondents of the network will testify on their use. This meeting will take place online on 3 June 2021 and will be recorded.
RAMEAU REFORM : the processing of the "Guides" project has just been completed, 120,000 bibliographic records have been indexed with the new validated Rameau records. The remainder of about 100 records, created during the project and whose indexing needs to be reviewed, has been entrusted to the network.

BACON: thanks to the collaboration of the Couperin Consortium negotiators, some fifty KBart files corresponding to non-French-speaking electronic resources have been integrated or updated in the BAse de COnnaissance Nationale. The objective is to facilitate the accurate and reliable reporting of these resources in the management tools of subscribing institutions.

RETROCONVERSION: the Grand Equipement Documentaire Campus Condorcet shared the collections of 50 libraries. The challenge of this pooling involved a rigorous, standardised and exhaustive reporting policy. Retroconversion projects were carried out to process nearly 30,000 documents that were not listed in the Sudoc.

A VIRTUAL MEETING IN MAY: On 20 May, an Online CR Managers' Day will take place. It will provide an opportunity to review the latest news from the Sudoc-PS network and the International ISSN Centre (in the morning), and then to work in collaborative workshops (in the afternoon). The sessions will not be recorded.
ALIGNMENT OF CONTINUING RESOURCE RECORDS: using the ARK identifier, the records for continuing resources in the Sudoc and the BnF General Catalogue have been aligned. With the alignment of these records with those of the ISSN register currently being completed (see L'Actu des Réseaux n°67), this is the consolidation of the virtuous circle created between the three management bodies.

    Theses network

THESES, VECTOR OF OPEN SCIENCE POLICY : the IGESR report (see above) recalls that 74% of electronic doctoral theses are open access on the Internet and that SCDs, by using the STAR application and by providing training, contribute to the development of open science. "[Librarians] should use the results highlighted by theAbes statistical review and the "Passport to Open Science" published by the CoSO International College to encourage PhD students to allow open access to their thesis." (page 45 of the report).
DOCTORATE THESIS DIGITALISATION PROJECT : the feasibility study of the project has been entrusted to a group of student curators from the Enssib: they must work on the scope of the digitisation, its technical modalities, the problems of permanent conservation and dissemination.

PROTECTION OF AFFILIATIONS: the new instructions of the CCSD for the description of affiliations in the AureHAL repository have an impact on the instructions given to the users of the STAR network, since these same affiliations are entered in the STAR application when the institutions choose to publish their theses on TEL. In order not to create a gap between the two databases, TEL and STAR, a double entry will be necessary in some cases. A J.e-course is proposed on this subject, on 6 May 2021.
