10 years of the "J.e-cours" scheme

To mark the tenth anniversary of its continuing education distance learning service,Abes takes a look back at the genesis and history of this service, in a post on the Fil' blogAbes.

Bibliographic transition

The 7th "Metadata in Libraries" professional day, organized by the Systems and Data group of the national Bibliographic Transition program, will take place online over half a day on November 25, 2022. This event will focus on building and putting online a dataset in UNIMARC format that complies with IFLA LRM modeling.

National licenses

ECCO: GIS CollEx-Persée funding has extended access to the publisher platform for the Eighteenth Century Collections Online database until July 30, 2027.

SCIENCES DE L'ANTIQUITÉ (De Gruyter): dual reporting (access via ISTEX and/or the publisher's platform) has been set up. The Sudoc coordinators have been informed.
SPRINGER: after 6 months of testing, the CollEx libraries involved in the discipline have selected the 125 ebooks published by Springer/Palgrave in political science that are to be acquired under a national license. These ebooks have now been registered on Sudoc , and exemplarization by institutions can begin.

CONTINUING TRAINING: recordings of the "J.e-courses" offered to Authority Correspondents are now available.
A NEW PRODUCER IN IDREF : since October 2, catalogers from the Swiss Renouvaud network have been producing in IdRef. The choice of linking their catalogs to the ESR repository represents an opportunity to disseminate the cultural heritage of the Canton of Vaud. Librarians specializing in the production of authorities will be able to enrich the IdRef authorities linked to the Canton of Vaud, making them visible to allIdRef users. Welcome to these new contributors!

ORCID FRANCE CONSORTIUM: membership of the Orcid France consortium for 2022-2023 is about to be launched. To find out more about the services and tools offered by ORCID to establishments, the ADBU Research and Documentation commission is organizing a webinar on this topic on October 18 (registration via ADBU list). In the meantime,Abes invites you to (re)discover the Consortium's website.

TRAINING: a new "Correspondent" training course is offered to colleagues recently appointed to this role.
REPORTING THE ARCHIVES OF THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT: the digitized archives of the House of Commons of the British Parliament in the 19th century have been acquired under national license as part of the CollEx-Persée program. They have been indexed on Calames, using data supplied by ProQuest and converted to EAD-xml byAbes.
SURVEY : in spring 2022, a survey was carried out within the Calames and Thèses networks concerning the control of authority data and the expectations of members of these networks with regard to their Authority Correspondent. The full results have now been published.
BIBLIOPAT 2022 DAYS: MNHN, a member of the network, hosts the BiblioPat association's days on November 17 and 18, on the theme "Heritage in the face of climate change".
WEBINAR TO INTRODUCE FRANCE ARCHIVES: The Service interministériel des Archives de France (SIAF), responsible for the FranceArchives portal, is organizing a webinar to introduce the portal on Tuesday, October 18 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Abes and SIAF are currently working to improve the OAI harvesting of Calames by FranceArchives, from which some Calames institutions already benefit.

    UNIMARC 2023 NEWS : the implementations to be carried out in January 2023, to keep pace with developments in the UNIMARC bibliographic format, were communicated to BMS suppliers at the beginning of June. They are listed in a summary document. The impact on cataloguing instructions, as well as the precise timetable for this project, will be communicated to coordinators in October.
    ALMA-SUDOC SYNCHRONIZATION: the expression of interest proposed in June showed that a large number of establishments equipped with the Alma BMS wanted to benefit from the proposed workflow for reporting electronic resources in Alma to feed Sudoc. Abes will be working with 13 establishments by the end of the year, with a further 15 in 2023.

    TRAINING: registration for the session for new CR managers is still open until October 14, 2022.
    CARTOGRAPHY OF PCPPs: the map of shared conservation plans for periodicals in France has been updated on theAbes website.
    RETURN TO THE JOURNÉES DU PATRIMOINE ÉCRIT: on June 23 in Rouen,Abes was on hand to present the Périscope application. Recordings of the presentations on Old Local Press, the Conservatoire National de la Presse and PCPP are now available.
    STUDY DAYS:Abes will be present in Bordeaux on November 24 for the CR 03 (Nouvelle Aquitaine-Bordeaux) study day, with a focus on the Aquitaine PCPP; in Paris on November 30 for the CR 32 (INHA) study day, with a focus on Bibliographic Transition and electronic resource tagging.

    PARTNERSHIP WITH MIR@BEL: CR 33 Économie-Gestion (Université Paris Dauphine - PSL) has just joined the Mir@bel network, becoming a partner in the Mir@bel monitoring system. As a result, numerous open access journals in the fields of economics, management and computer science will be listed in Mir@bel.

    Making a successful transition to IdRef : Renouvaud aligns its authorities with Ouali!


    Renouvaud, the Vaud library network in French-speaking Switzerland, is adopting the IdRef repository. Its ambition is to replace all access points in its bibliographic records by access points IdRef, thanks to its OUtil d'ALIgnement, named Ouali.

    The poster describing this project was awarded 3rd prize at the Journées Abes 2022.
