Thesis Coordinator


Within the framework of the national thesis reporting system, each institution authorised to award doctoral degrees is responsible for appointing a thesis coordinator, who has an overview of the thesis circuit in his or her institution.

STAR Correspondent


Each institution authorised to award doctoral degrees appoints one or two STAR Correspondent(s), who are the contact person(s) for theAbes regarding the use of the national STAR application - reporting and archiving of theses in electronic format. Depending on the institution, he/she works in a school, a doctoral school, a laboratory or may be attached to the Service Commun de Documentation.

The STAR Correspondent may be required to pilot the implementation of work environments during the deployment phase of the STAR application in his establishment.

The role of the STAR Correspondent is formalised in a function sheet, which provides the managers of the institutions with the elements needed to integrate these functions into the organisation charts and job descriptions of the staff concerned.

Training and communication

Training is offered to the STAR Correspondents who commit themselves to transmit the acquired know-how to the people of their institution involved in the reporting circuit of theses.

STEP Correspondent


Designated by the Thesis Coordinator of his/her institution, the STEP Correspondent is the contact person for theAbes regarding the reporting of theses in preparation. Depending on the institution, he/she works in a school department, a doctoral school, a laboratory or may be attached to the Common Service of Documentation.

The tasks of the STEP Correspondent, as well as the functionalities of the STEP application, are set out in detail in the professional documentation provided byAbes. His or her role is formalised in a job description, which provides school managers with the information they need to integrate these functions into the organisation charts and job descriptions of the staff concerned.

 

Training and communication

Remote training is offered to STEP Correspondents, who undertake to provide training and assistance to their institution's staff using the application, as well as first-level support.
