Role and missions


The organisation of the network Sudoc is based on correspondents identified in each of the member institutions. The Correspondents Sudoc have responsibilities in the following areas

  • the transmission of information from Abes
  • 1st level assistance in their establishment
  • certain specific tasks and/or relating to certain types of data

The various roles and missions of the Correspondents Sudoc are formalised in function sheets which provide the managers of the establishments with the useful elements for integrating these functions into the functional organisation charts and job descriptions of the agents:

  • Abes relations officer: this function was set up in 2019 to deal with strategic issues in the institutions Sudoc : monitoring of network membership arrangements, files relating to the reporting of electronic resources, etc.
  • Coordinator Sudoc : contact person for theAbes regarding the reporting activity and the files related to the management of the data of his establishment
  • Authorities Correspondent:Abes 's contact for the production of authorities in the Sudoc database and/or via theIdRef
  • Cataloguing Correspondent:Abes 's contact for questions of formats and cataloguing rules in the Sudoc
  • Relay trainer: a cataloguing expert recognised for his pedagogical skills, he trains newly appointed cataloguers in the use of the Sudoc
  • ILL Manager: user of Sudoc (Supeb) tools for the management of ILL and Remote Document Delivery requests

Note: Correspondents Sudoc have access by profile to documentation enabling them to take charge of their function and carry out their missions, based on the Methodological Guide Sudoc.

 

Training and communication


At the beginning of each academic year, Correspondents Sudoc are offered training in different ways: face-to-face, distance learning or as part of bridging courses.

To facilitate communication between the Correspondents Sudoc and/or with the Abes :

  • several mailing lists dedicated to each type of Correspondent are available for any exchange between peers or any message whose response is likely to interest the professionals of the network Sudoc.
  • to contact a Correspondent Sudoc: various directories are available from the Methodology Guide Sudoc
  • to follow the news of theAbes and its networks: the newsletter L'Actu des Réseaux is available on subscription as well as the blogs Fil Abes, Punktokomo and Oubipo
